Five and half thousand students study at the large, busy Woolwich Campus which is the original home of the University. Woolwich has one of the main shopping centres in the London Borough of Greenwich, with a market selling everything from fruit and vegetables to clothes and electrical goods.

Woolwich also offers a major leisure complex - the Waterfront, which students can join for a concessionary fee. It overlooks the river, so once you've had a swim or been to the gym you can watch the Woolwich Ferry crisscross the river with the Thames Barrier in the background. Just across the road from the Leisure Centre are the Coronet cinema and the Granada Bingo Hall! Also in the area are Charlton Athletic Football club and Blackheath Rugby Club - so all tastes are catered for.

Woolwich has a sports hall used for basketball, table tennis, 5-a-side football and badminton. Instructed classes include karate, table tennis, fitness training and aikido. There is a fitness room and two squash courts at Thomas Spencer Hall of Residence.

The University's main Students' Union complex in Bathway (a converted Victorian Baths) is a social centre for the campus. As well as a venue for bands, raves and other special evening events. It provides a place to meet friends, have lunch, shop or see one of the welfare advisers. The campus has extensive library and computing facilities.

Woolwich is close to Greenwich (fifteen minutes by bus or train). If you feel like hitting the centre of London, half-an-hour on the train will take you to Covent Garden, Soho or Leicester Square.

"I chose the University of Greenwich because it has excellent facilities and because my course covered such a broad area. It seemed the ideal choice.
A Mathematics, Statistics and Computing degree is sought after in the employment market so I hope that I'll find work easily."
