The University of the Millennium

If you start a course at Greenwich in 1998 you'll be right at the centre of the biggest Millennium party in the world. Over 20 million tourists are expected to visit the site of the UK's Millennium Festival. The Festival plans include an exhibition focused on the Greenwich Peninsula with two giant end of year parties in 1999 and 2000. The University's Millennium activities go beyond the Festival. The Millennium Tree Line project was set up to identify and conserve existing trees, and to plant new trees along the Greenwich Meridian Line. By the end of the year 2000 trees will be planted in England (from North Humberside to East Sussex), in Europe and in Africa.

The Greenwich and Docklands International Festival

Every June a spectacular firework display over the river marks the start of the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival which takes over the whole borough. The University is proud to be one of three founding sponsors of the only London festival which covers all the arts.

A Campus in Greenwich

The University has been identified as the single preferred occupant of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, (pictured above, top) when the Royal Navy is expected to move out in 1998. At the time of going to pass no final decision has been made on which students will be based in Greenwich's town centre.
